If you’re trying to decide whether or not to reroll that beer that will likely keep you alive, you might want to keep the beer. If a player collects a trio of Gatling symbols on the dice, he fires one shot at everyone else and rids himself of Indian tokens. While not without some problems, the game is loads of fun and filled with great Old West atmosphere. Whilst there are games I would rather play with 4 players there is no other game I want to play more than bang the dice game with 8 players.

It’s a bluffing and player elimination game for groups of 3-8 players, set in the old American West. There's a progressive scale depending on the number of players but the rules are virtually the same, although there's a variant for 3 players. Here are some of our more lighthearted things to show we're not all about the Serious Business of games. On a turn, a player can roll the five dice up to three times, using the results of the dice to shoot neighbouring players, increase the range of his shots, heal his (or anyone else's) life points, or put him in range of the Indians, which are represented by nine tokens in the centre of the table. The outlaws must eliminate the sheriff, while the renegade must kill everyone, saving the sheriff for last. Player identities are indicated only on cards, but the powers each player is dealt are pretty straightforward and they only rarely impact on the complexity of managing the dice.

With that said, I haven't really seen anyone be able to runaway with a game simply because they had one of these characters. It does a surprisingly good job of referencing the main tropes and actions of its card predecessor, while offering it all up in a quick-playing and simplified format.Sometimes there are role related reasons for that, but the uncertainty window over everything means that targets are often based on convenience or inevitability. Plus, it helps balance things out so that the Sheriff doesn't get obliterated by the Outlaws from the beginning. During the game this will lead to many heated debates and appeals to the Sheriff, whose role is always visible.

The dice are chunky and substantial feeling, with large brightly coloured symbols that are easy to see from any distance. You’ll meet the shady characters you can get around in an Old Saloon and you can even become a ghost if your character is eliminated too soon! The first is that the social dynamics of the roles just aren’t really interesting enough because information is strictly rationed. And we may still pull it out on a game night before we dive into games that require more decision making. But at the same time, you have a much greater chance to impact the outcome of the game than you do in the dice game.

Personally, I find that the deal two method is more preferable, but it just gives everyone some choice. The Bullet comes with a shiny Sheriff’s badge for the Sheriff, and it’s kind of unfortunate that there’s no similar thing for Dice Game owners. There’s no correspondingly buxon character to Calamity Jane in the male roster, but also she’s not overly objectified.
